Stampede School Day 3

 Yahoo, Day 3!

This morning we;

-spent some time looking at the Big 4. Students worked in groups to look at artifacts and explain why/how they were important to each of the Big 4. ie. Patrick Burns, a bell, a cow, steak, etc. The groups then presented who their Big 4 person was and 3 things that were important about that person.

-created a visual journal page about our personal goals and dreams, ways we contribute and help others and personal character traits are (kind, honest, good listener, generous etc.)

-went for a short walk along the river.  We walked over one of the bridges that washed away during the flood of 2013.  The bridge was completely destroyed and a new one was built.  The new bridge has railings that fold flat in case of a flood.  The railings will be folded down allowing debris to flow over the bridge instead of getting caught up in it.

-played at the inclusive park

-looked at the Stampede Parade Marshals from the past 20 years.  There have been some pretty famous people. Parade Marshals do not apply to be the Marshal, but are nominated and voted in.

-watched a short video about the Calgary Stampede Royalty. Did you know the Stampede Queen and Princesses attend  up to 350 events per year.

-learned about the name change of "Indian Village" to "Elbow River Camp" in 2016 took many years to agree upon. 28 Indigenous Families had to agree to the change. They also agreed to the location change.
